New Zealand’s dynamic Falcon, king of speed and agility.
The native Kārearea is an endemic bird of prey, the only Falcon found in New Zealand, and often mistaken for the Australian Harrier Hawk. Although found throughout NZ, they are rarer than Kiwi.
NZ Falcon are known for their speed, agility and sharp eyesight. Their short, rounded wings allow them to manouevre quickly through thick native forest.
Falcon symbolise ambition and aspiration, freedom and victory. A Kārearea feather worn by Maori warriors, implied they were as fierce and reckless as the Falcon.
